It’s fascinating to see how the rice rolls are made. That’s truly a delight for the eyes. But, the taste of it was not as good as it looked while getting ready. Very average taste and I honestly had better rice rolls at smaller restaurants at Chinatown!

It's one of the softest, springiest steam rice rolls that ive ever had to eat. it was decent, good, and appetizing. Though there was almost no filling in them. It was hard to justify the price (6 dollars for a beef roll?) and experience for something that you could get at a cheaper price with better fillings at a smaller mom and pop store in chinatown. id recommend spending money to the local chinese restaurants in chinatown, which are suffering, than coming here.

I like the idea of the open kitchen and show people the entire procedure. It’s stress-relief moment to watch the guy making rice roll from rice paste so promptly. The rice skin is super thin and it’s my favorite style. However the ground beef chewing like residue of cork. It’s quick bite but may take time to get your order if there’re many people in front you since the rice roll need to be steamed 1-2 mins. I may go for the plain rice roll next time and reserve my favorite beef rice roll to Golden Unicorn.

Tip: Try Joe's Signature and their Shrimp Rice Noodle Rolls with all vegetable additions for the full experience. Rice noodle rolls are one of my favorite food and I even went on a quest in Guangdong, China (the birth of rice noodle rolls) to find what was the best the world had to offer. Joe's Steam Rice Roll is by far the best rice noodle roll in NYC and it resembles to most rice noodle rolls made in Guangdong, China. The process in which they create such silky texture is similar to how they make it in Guangdong as well. If Joe's Steam Rice Roll steps up their meat, shrimp and sauce quality game then I'll be concern that I wouldn't be able to distinguish the difference from NYC's best vs China's best. But it doesn't seem fair to knock off any points comparing Joe's rice roll to the best ones made in China. I'm excited to see that Joe's can produce quality rice noodle rolls comparable to the ones in China!

Food - Great: The shrimp rice roll was delicious. Clean, tasty and light. Service - Good: Cashier was polite and food came out within 10 minutes. Overall - Highly recommend if looking for a quick bite and a different experience.

I was expecting a lot and although the steam rice rolls were good, I felt that I wanted the rolls to be thicker as I've had at other places like Shorty Tangs... Maybe I'm just partial to it that way. Still, very tasty and choice of fillings are nice. This was the shrimp roll with corn, and the back one was beef. I preferred the Shrimp as the beef was a little pasty in texture.

I think my expectations were too high. it was good but I've had much better. I ordered the Joe's signature steam rice roll and curry fish balls. the steam rice roll is made to order so there is a wait time. and the line to order is long especially if you go around lunch time. the fish ball was a disappointment. they were all prepared and in containers. a little soggy with no snap to them. I'm glad I tried them. but I would have preferred their other location. I think you can get half orders, this way I can try out different items.

Never ever tried this before! It’s amazing, freshly prepared right in front of you, little crowded so hard to find a place to sit down but for sure worth it to drop a visit. It’s fast prepared so you don’t have to wait that long, prices are good as well.
