Not just for residents or asylums, Roosevelt Island is a great place for recreation. There are lots of fields where people play soccer and other contact sports. Take the tram, walk around, check out the new Roosevelt memorial, and catch the sunset. They even have movies during the Summertime. Perfect for bike rides too.

I have lived on RI for over a year and always take advantage of any opportunity to ride the tram. The views of the east river, midtown, and roosevelt island are stunning. I would personally ride the tram over the empire state building, especially when the price is 2.50 vs. 50 or whatever. Highly recommended

Riding the tram to cross from Roosevelt Island to Manhattan over the East river is a nice experience. The thing that I like is that it has a nice view. When you are in the middle there is some thing that it looks like you are going to hit it. sometimes it shakes when it is really cold.

If the tram is working, this is a great picturesque ride to Roosevelt Island. It is a short ride. There are activities on Roosevelt Island, once you get there. You could also return by subway.

The MTA metro card can be used on the tram to Roosevelt Island. While taking the tram across East river, the eastside skyline of Manhattan is in your eyes. On the Island you can take a walk to south point park or walk north to the beacon. During the spring time, the cherry blossom on the river bank make the whole road pink which is really gorgeous!!
