An amazing piece of tangible history. Remember folks that NYC had the best drinking water right from our tap.. The tower had its rain jacket on.. hiding the restoration going on... Enjoy

My kayak was moving and the light was getting faint at times in the early evening when I took the accompanying image of the Bronx side of the High Bridge, it reminds me of old Roman aqueducts found in Europe. I love the cut stone retaining walls and seawalls from earlier in the century or last century that are found all over the five boroughs. While it must have been back-breaking and probably low-paying work, I really admire the stonemasons that built these. They have left such an amazing mark and legacy for the city.
It's pretty cool. I've only entered it from Washington Heights, it's a good way to burn off some of the pork fat I just had for lunch. Pay attention to how you get there, some pretty sketchy paths that lead down to the highway and not the bridge
A Very Nice Diversion From Covid. If it's sunny and not windy, you'll be comfortable. There are a few benches on the bridge for relaxing while taking in the sights. Bring water.
Great spot for watching the water , highway, and/or trains. Easy walk or bike ride connecting the boroughs.
