The wine here is good, though it isn't stellar. I've definitely had better wine at other local wineries, but what this place lacks in quality wine, it makes up for in ambiance and atmosphere. It feels so relaxed and calm here and it's very pleasant. The thing that does throw it off a little though is the fact that it's situated in the middle of a neighborhood, so you can see houses right next door and they've got some construction tarp fencing around the property, those parts I wasn't a fan of. I do recommend trying this place at least once because overall it is quite good.

The property is beautiful, with lots of space to spread out. The historic Manor House was restored beautifully, and the new event center is perfect for all occasions. Best of all, they have some of the best wine I've tasted in all of Virginia, and I've been to many of the Virginia wineries. They don't just have one to two good wines, all of their wines are fantastic and have won many awards. Kudos to the wine makers!

My experience it from a weekday, so it wasn't very busy. The woman pouring the wines was extremely helpful in selecting the wines we selected for the flight. (I don't think they are doing traditional tastings right now). The space was clean and well maintained. The grounds were beautiful. I loved all the wines we tasted. While they don't specialize in sweet wines, none of the wines we tried were overly dry. I personally prefer wines where you can taste the terrior and these wines definitely delivered. A few things to note: they are a 21 winery (no kiddos), and do not allow dogs. They do have some information about the history of the manor house and are happy to talk to you about it too!

Great location and friendly staff. We had an event and they were kind enough to accommodate us.

We are heading up to Jiffy Lube Live to catch a concert, because we wanted to miss traffic we left kind of early and had some time to kill. We Googled things to do and Effingham Winery popped up so we thought we'd go take a peek. I'm not much of a drinker myself, but my wife very much enjoyed all their Reds. The gentleman doing the taste in for my wife was very informative and friendly. I found the place pretty fascinating lots of History. They have a tree out front that was brought back by Lewis and Clark, only one of two in existence. They still had a few of the old buildings set up, and old slave house and Smokehouse. They also have the first ever cement pool that they made into a koi pond now. Inside the manor had all kinds of historical things to look at, paintings another revolutionary and Civil War mementos. The upstairs had all kinds of cute little rooms. It was very cool to walk around and check everything out. My wife and I spent about an hour there and very much enjoyed it.
