Great place to visit if you can make it here. Had the opportunity to visit while stationed at Norfolk. Made many trips here and actually walked and climbed everything. If you ever get the time make a visit.

A short tour had a lot of history.

First time there and it was awesome! This monument needs a lot of repairs but it's place in history definitely needs to be told. You can only get there by boat. The Miss Hampton II is the main way to get to this island. This tour is so worth going on!

It was a nice paddle out on a rough windy day. Unfortunately when I got back my phone was floating in my kayak. So I lost all the pictures I took. It's very historic ( old and run down) It is closed to the public now. I'm guessing because it's unsafe and very challenging to get to. I'm not very big on old military structures. I think they should be bull dozed and have the land used for public activities instead of just ghost lands. But I will go back for pics later.
