Hope Hall is an abandoned state run psychiatric ward from the 1930s through the 1960s. It is partly occupied but not by patients. I have talked to several older local people about abuses at this facility. The stories they tell are of hearing chilling screams day and night. Some of the procedures in side Hope Hall for the patients were electric compulsive therapy, ice water therapy, insulin shock therapy, insulin coma therapy, and lobotomies. The upper ward did have porch areas with rusted iron bars for patients to have access to open fresh air. The whole place looks scary and some say you can still hear the screams late at night if you dare go close. One picture I included has the corner stone with the date of 1927. The number patients peaked at about 3,000 in the 1950s. After taking several pictures and driving away I felt chills run down my back. I do not want to go back to visit this place ever! I put 5 stars for historical purposes and creepy feeling.
