This is a pretty nice lighthouse with a great boardwalk across the street that has a lot of informational and historical signs on it. Also sits right across the street from Caswell Beach. Parking lots aren't that big and are limited. It's located right next door to the Coast Guard station as well. The lighthouse itself is closed and you cant go inside it.

Very nice landmark on the island. You can go in (not during covid and not in winter though) and there's a lovely boardwalk across the street with interesting signs about local wildlife, fauna, and history, and a great view of the water.

I have seen many a lighthouse, and I will say this ranks right at the bottom for looks, but high in uniqueness. It can be seen from a good distance away, taking the ferry to Bald Head it was on the horizon for the whole time. Unfortunately, right now, the light is burnt out and there is no climbing allowed, but in time that will get fixed. Of course, like most lighthouses, the Oak Island is run by the great USCG, and there is a small car park (for about four cars) next to the base and by the foot of the lighthouse. Public beach parking is across the street and is free. Would definitely recommend a visit if in the area, it’s one of the many Outer Banks lighthouses that are worth seeing. Cheers.

A beautiful lighthouse on the Carolina Coast! Worth the drive from Southport to Oak Island to see this tall beacon stretching in to Carolina Blue skies. Oak Island is also a Sea Turtle sanctuary.
