Top quality food in a nice local environment. The hours seems not to be consistent and the phone (for takeout orders) often unanswered. The service is extraordinarily slow while exceedingly friendly. The tables and chairs need a good wipe down to remove stickiness. Have a beer and chill with excellent smoked meat.

This place has the best fish & ships anywhere around. This is a tiny restaurant with a flat screen TV showing a basketball game. You order at the counter from a small leaflet style menu. But the food is amazing. The fish-and-chips were made fresh with flaky white fish and crispy Breading . The fries were home cut, made extra crispy to order, and tasted perfect. Service was fast and friendly, 1 guy working behind the counter in one in the kitchen. Local or tourist go out of your way to eat here and you won't be disappointed.
The food is nothing special. Availability of items on the menu is hit and miss. Went in one evening about an hour before closing and they were serving on item on the menu. Another time they were out of the ribs. Another time they weren't open during scheduled hours. Last time there the staff was friendly and seemed to make an effort to improve their image. The shop is convenient so I am hoping they can make the experience more pleasurable.
I had high hopes from the reviews and pictures, but it did not love up at all. We tried the tri tip, chicken, and sausage (sold out of ribs!) with fries, green beans, and potato salad. Nearly everything was burned to a black crunch. Reasonable BBQ sauce though. Nice staff and small place, reasonable prices.
Good food and you get way more for you money then other sandwich shops in Montclair. I suggest calling to order ahead because although service is friendly and the food is pretty good, it takes a while for your food to be made and handed to you.
