I love this plantation home. It was a simple home and was really laid back. We did the self guided tour with our 6 kids, and they enjoyed it as well.

The tour guide was knowledgeable about the house and family’s history. The one star arises from the fact that very little was mentioned about the economy of the place and only a passive passing mention of the enslaved people who lived and worked there. There is a pamphlet available at the visitor center for a self guided “Enslaved Life Tour,” that includes some typos and doesn’t go far enough in making up for their exclusion from the narrative of the place. This place is owned and operated by the State of Louisiana and needs to do better.

RUDE! What I saw was beautiful, but Big Daddy in museum needs to be taught some PR skills. I spent about 30 seconds in museum before he publicly embarrassed me.
