Absolutely love this campground. If you know, let's keep it low key. This place is the hidden gem of the Palomar range. No better place to camp with your family or alone. No better views can be afforded!

The drive to this campground is very windy for the last 25-30 minutes. The campground is nice/shady at most tent sites and it has a good hiking trail even for kids but other than that...be prepared for mosquitoes if you stay around Site 8-10 (we camped in July). The only flushed restroom near the entrance is almost unusable, seem like no one maintains it. If you reserve online, no need to check in. There's a Reserve sign with dates at each site.

one of the best campground in southern CA, very friendly camp host, good hiking trail to the observatory ( a little hard on the way up - easy on the way down) (one and a half hour up, forty five minutes down), if go there on weekend, do not miss the 5 tour (10am, noon, 2.30pm), 30 persons/tour-go early because the tour sold out fast. camp site #6 and #7

Space 34 - super big! Very quiet . Lots of squirrels. TONS on mosquitoes due to being right next to a creek bed. Bring bug spray. Right next to a trail head. Close to bathrooms and shower but not right next door. Would come again.

Nice collection of open viewing sites. Telescope pads built by eagle scouts near site 40. Kid friendly, and close to the state park and observatory for day trips.

A very nice, clean campground to enjoy some nights, 15 a night to camp with potable water and bathrooms available, all sites have a fire pit and picnic table. The sites in the center have no tree shade, during he summer is very hot with lots of mosquitoes but is perfect for nighttime star gazing, sometimes camp fires aren’t allowed, check before you book. Lots of good sites around the middle with lots of tree shade, some of them are located out of sight from the main road.
