This is a beautiful and well maintained state park! I love going here to photograph wildlife in a relaxing a peaceful environment. There are quite a few trails to explore, plenty of picnic areas, and quiet places to fish at.

So the actual NPS part of this I was unable to find a sand beach. The sand we did find was snow white however it was low tide and beyond the sand was a thick black mud. Not sure if it's just where we were or not but that part was disappointing. It was a beautiful place though and lots of bike riders and fishing going on. Sunset was absolutely amazing. Was there in January so it was cooler than I expected. Definitely no getting in the water and the breeze coming off the water was frigid. Was a quick trip and would have liked to have seen high tide.

Covid and hurricane has had an impact on the park, closing some trails and the visitor center. Had great boat launches, with easy access. Still a great place to get out and enjoy nature.

On a Saturday it was dead quiet. only one other van in the whole park. Beautiful. Quiet. Wish I could've stayed longer
