I have been here at this amazing park many times. But this was a game changer. Time of year was the month end if January. When the American Eagles decide to come out and show off their prestigious flight. Their majestic appearance was flawless and beautiful.

Such an amazing place and breathtaking. I've been wanting to visit this place for years and the first time it was during winter. There are less people during winter. I would need to try the spring, summer and fall soon. Many different trails to take; short and long. There are many places that have waterfall spots. Come prepared with snacks especially if you bring children. I brought my 3 year old son and he had a blast being free and able to get around on his own. Do take precaution because there are places you look down at. Really recommend this place.

We stayed at the cabins for a couple days during a snow storm and had the time of our lives. The food at the restaurant was fantastic, everyone was extremely nice, and we even had an issue with the thermostat in our cabin late at night and the maintenance guy came by in about 10 minutes to get it sorted out. We hiked the trails to starved rock and then to lovers leap. The eagles were out while it was snowing and it was absolutely beautiful! The staff at the front desk of the lodge are amazing and so friendly and nice! Elle and Marissa were incredibly helpful and super sweet! Overall, we'll be back to take a winter vacation again!

This was my first visit of this beautiful park, but definitely not my last! We arrived around 4 pm, and it says that visitors must leave the park when night falls. So we were forced to go around everything quickly. However, it did not bother us to see everything and enjoy the beauties of this place. I emphasize that everything is much more beautiful because it is autumn, so nature is picturesque. I must also mention that the main attraction (the big waterfall) had no water. I am very sorry that I did not see that fall, but since we will visit it again in the spring, I hope that it will have water then.

The park offers fun and very easy hikes. Paths are almost completely paved, and the modest vertical climbs are done via staircase / steps that are very easy. There are some great views at lookout points on the Illinois river, and the various canyons provide some truly lovely sights as well. Lastly, our mid-October visit made for some spectacular fall foliage views.
