Stayed in the Laurel Guest House on my ride from Pittsburgh to DC. It was certainly basic is its amenities , but provided a hot shower, a comfy bed, towels, and a safe stay right in town. I would definitely recommend this guest house if you are just looking for a good place to stay without the frills. I will say that there was a full kitchen available for use if you book the whole house.

We were greeted with an envelope at the front door with our name on it. In fact, we never saw anyone except another guest. The room was clean and had great antique furniture. WiFi was easy. That’s the good. The beds were barely adequate. Squeaky mattresses and plastic feeling. No shampoo or shower soap. No breakfast (never promised). Seems to the general rule in all of Ohiopyle. “Just adequate and overpriced “. This one fits in nicely.

Guest house and rooms were fine and was close to GAP trail. However, no shampoo or or regular soap, liquid hand Softsoap was only provided. Also, only muffins were promised for breakfast due to virus, which is fine. However, nothing was put out in morning at all, not even the muffins.

My husband and I stayed in The Laurel House in August 2015 with our two year old daughter. The home was impeccably clean and everything was perfect. It is not a hotel, so do not expect amenities like one, but there were clean, fresh towels and clean, nice bedding. We only utilized our room and the large shared bathroom, but the kitchen and TV area seemed quite comfortable. We would definitely recommend the house and look forward to trying the other homes. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Stayed here a night on my bike trip from DC to Pittsburgh. I stayed in the Mackenzie House. They do not allow bikes inside the house but they offer a wooden bike rack in front of the house or use of the side porch. The house was cozy, well decorated, and very clean. There are 3 bedrooms for rent, I had #3 and no complaints. Other guests in the house were very courteous. If you looking to stay up late and party, then rent the whole house out otherwise it wouldn't be fair to others staying in the same house. The house is located in short walking distance to many restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.

My daughter and I stayed in Ferncliff while biking the GAP. It was clean and easy but had some rough edges. The bathroom door in Room 1 didn't latch and kept swinging open so one of us had to leave the bedroom each time the other used the facilities. The TV and VCR remotes didn't work so we couldn't turn off the TV. And my bed was ancient and missing slats so I sank to the floor. A waterbed has more firmness. But it was clean overall and it worked for a quick overnighter.
