Coffee is not cheap but it's high quality, and roasted in house just right. Kind and lovely staff. Tasteful music selection. Not too busy. Super chill atmosphere for a relaxed sitting.

Found the atmosphere a bit cold and coffee a little bitter (4/5 Green Stars) Old world coffee on California St. is very much coffee focused – there were two lemon bars and some mini cinnamon rolls at the counter. But they also partner with Full Belly Deli, next door, to bring breakfast burritos and wraps, etc. I had a Gibraltar and it wasn't as enjoyable as the one from Coffeebar – it had a bitterness that required extra sugar to make it drinkable for me. It was also pricey – 4.75 for my Gibraltar, including a 75 cent charge for the small amount of oat milk. The atmosphere was okay – there were a few people working inside and outside but it felt a bit cold overall. I think it needs a bit of work to make it welcoming and cosy and to soften their hipster vibe. I’m also giving Old world coffee 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact for the following reasons: •\tMany of their coffees are sourced from farms or co-ops that are doing good things for their workers and local communities (you have to go to their website to read these stories as the coffee packaging doesn’t provide much useful info). •\tSome of their beans are organic, while others lack information on sustainability (shade, agriculture, etc.). •\tThe coffee packaging itself is a bit excessive (for only 8 ounces of beans) and not-compostable. •\tThe 75 cent charge for choosing more sustainable plant-based milks is excessive. Especially for the small amount of milk required in drinks like their Gibraltar.
I will have to go back and try something else. I got the caramel apple pie latte. It was like drinking a cup of dark chocolate. That's what it tasted like. Not being a big chocolate person, I was not a fan. But. I will go and try something different.
Great and fast service. Ordered the Chai Latte and Lavender Latte. Both were excellent.
Ethiopia single origin espresso: best shot of espresso I've had in a long time. They're doing it right!
Delicious lattes, but nothing too fancy, they keep it pretty simple, quiet but lively at the same time. Best coffee shop for studying or writing, lots of seating near outlets, lots of room for a small study group, and they keep up with their sanitizing in between visitors, but they're not obnoxious about it. Outdoor seating as well. Good mellow background music that you can ignore and then take a second to vibe to during a study break. Super nice, chill staff. Basically perfect.
There’s something about walking into a business and stepping up to the counter to order to just be stared at. Acknowledge your customers, use words. After ordering and not even being spoken to, my drink was then sat on a counter and never told it was ready. Then I see the same barista hand delivering coffee and waters to a table of girls. Not sure if they are friends or he thought they were hot. Either way, treat your customers the same, with words and with kindness. The beverage was fine, but I won’t go back.
Love this place really good coffee and the cold brew is heavenly
