Pointer hall is unsafe. With a public entrance and no one guarding so anything could enter. That area also has a large bathroom conducive to any behavior. The staff is dressed worse than the patients. A totally unprofessional area.

I called to schedule an appointment after finally getting insurance. The woman who answered hung up on me after I asked about getting a referal (she told me I needed one to be seen here). I hope that woman knows it can take weeks, months, or even years for someone with serious mental health issues to finally reach out and seek help and to be hung up on when I finally had insurance and decided that I was emotionally ready to make that step was honestly so disheartening and defeatist. Nebraska Med needs to do beter.

I relocated and needed additional refills while I searched for a provider in my new city. The staff refused to help and acted as though I was planning to abuse drugs and said I should just request a new prescription when I needed it. Well guess what, I did and they didn't approve it. Stopping antidepressants abruptly is dangerous. I am working on navigating this situation but many people in need of mental health services are not in a position to navigate this complexity. Extremely unprofessional, callous, and possible criminally negligent services.

I just tried to call to get information on intiating services for my bonus daughter (step daughter) whoever it was answered the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional. I was writing down the steps that needed to be taken and she interrupted me and after explaining to her what I was doing I just decided at that point that we do not want to use this place for services. If our first conversation was sour I can just imagine that there will be conflict the whole way. We were recently surprised by receiving placement from DHHS of my bonus daughter and my husband relies upon me to help him navigate these things that he is experiencing for the first time ever ( not by his choice the first time, he has tried to be involved but blocked by bio mom) this is a stressful time and it is important for us to get help with this transition and I will never again call this place.

Ten years ago I actually saw a psychiatrist who spoke to me and not to a computer screen. Now you’ll most likely be seen by a psych tech closely following a series of questions on the laptop in front of them. I imagine this change in systems and management was to streamline services and reduce costs. On the patient end it was a disaster. The high turnover of staff make it difficult to make connections. Once doctors inquired. Now techs accuse. The quality of care between an experienced psychiatrist and a young person (under 30) with an associates degree is incomparable. Primarily because a tech has to follow a series of criteria with very little wiggle room. Many mental illnesses require just that. But like one lady working at the front desk told me, “they (techs) can’t prescribe the big drugs.” Whatever that means. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. There’s so many wonderful places in Omaha to receive the warm, personal attention you deserve.
