An amazing academy and school where the best coaches ever, so talented and prepared, teach you to become a great professional actor and artist, the best actor that you can be. Really thank you so much

After training in New York, I was hard pressed to find a home to study in Los Angeles. I went from studio audit to studio audit, which felt like a series of very mediocre dates. I finally found Open City and it's been incredible. Victor and Carlton are thoughtful and essential. As teachers, they both activate and hold the artist accountable in the most organic and palpable ways. Being in class felt like a privilege and a treat. I love the material, I love the discussions, I love the community. Open City is a wonder.

Victor has given me a plate to put my heart on. A space to DO. He has inspired me, changed me, ignited me. I am so grateful for the classes I've taken and the actors I've met. The quality of work at the studio is phenomenal. The atmosphere is supportive and kind. Victor has a sharp sense of truth and helps foster a love of storytelling and problem solving. I recommend OCAS HIGHLY.

If you're looking to really get your hands dirty in the craft of acting this is the studio for you. All the teaching staff here from scene study to audition technique to voice and movement will illuminate fresh ways to tell story and connect to character. And it's not a result driven place; everyone is process-oriented in a way that has taught me to get out of my own way and engage in each step of the journey. Not surprisingly, that’s where I do my best work, find ownership, and truly enjoy what I’m doing. Can't recommend enough.

I love my scene study class with Victor at Open City Acting. I've worked with him in a class setting, and one-on-one audition coaching for several years now. His direction is always tremendously helpful, inspiring, and supportive. He gives his full attention to every actor he works with. Big thumbs up :-)

Caitlin York Rigney's classes in the Williamson Technique and Animal Work were a revelation for me. Caitlin's understanding of the actor's instrument is incredible. She's somehow able to see through you to find the places you hold tension. In some cases, this uncovered deep emotional truths buried beneath the surface. She's not simply teaching the technique but guiding each actor and each body through it's own journey of discovery and release. Through this work I found a tremendous amount of freedom and access to my emotional life that I had never imagined before. I am a changed actor and changed man because of this work, and I have Caitlin to thank for that.

Victor will forever and always be my favorite acting coach. If you're serious about acting and what it takes to really understand your character, he is the teacher for you. I went to sooo many acting schools before until I found him. It's the type of class where he helps you learn how to go deeper into the character yourself. Not a cookie-cutter or "do what I say" kind of process. You work together to be the best actor you can be. He cares deeply for his students and in the probably 5 years I've been with him I've never seen him give less than his all.

I have been to a few other studios in LA, and in all honesty, I didn't even know what acting really was until I started the conservatory at Open City. OCAS has worked to show me, inform me, and make me understand what it really takes to be an artist -- not just the bullet points of acting techniques. Helping me build my own personal process that I can rely on day in and day out, and most importantly, the truth of acting; making it an authentic, honest, experience, not just a scene. You are pushed to your limit day in and day out to become better, and the teachers hold themselves to the same standard of effort that they hold their students. This is the place, and i will recommend it 100 times over
