absolutely top notch - family owned, local flavor. We went on the last cruise of the year, saw whales all over the bay. The interesting thing was that the bigger charters followed Capt Larry, as they seemed to know that he knew where to find the whales. There were 28 on our boat, which is a lot better than the 50 to 60 you get on the commercial charters. You are not massed with the hoards. There were snacks provided, which was a big plus. This one is a keeper, and well worth the money.

The crew was very friendly and engaging, learned a lot about whales and their habitat. We were able to see a lot of whale activity the day we went, thanks to Mother Nature and Captain Larry for his keen knowledge of the bay. Plus you don't get the crowded tours like you would if you booked through your cruise line, definitely would recommend these guys.
Went out yesterday with OE. (The morning rainy but it cleared in the afternoon, windy, cool but not too) and got the experience of a lifetime. Whales were bubble-net feeding in the area. Boats were all around, waiting for this group of 12 or 13 humpbacks to appear. Cameras ready...when all of a sudden the whales appeared in front of us, on the sides of us, everywhere. If I hadn't have already had video running, I'd have never gotten the footage. Almost in slow motion, keeping the camera on the whales mere feet from me, I looked over to Capt. Larry. I could tell he was concerned about the whales, us and our safety. He was quite professional,, held position, trusted the whales knew what they were doin. They did, of course. Not one hit the boat, though I have no idea how. Some of us heard the herring hitting the bottom of the boat. Oh, the adrenaline pumping on that boat. No company can plan that and we were quite far from where they were appearing. Oh, the luck. OE's crew are real professionals, and we all felt like we'd won the lottery...
Sure, you will see whales. But you can do that without supporting a bad neighbor to locals and an unsafe and inconsiderate boat operator. I have observed unsafe and rude docking, chasing whales inside of the required standoff distance, and making way too much wake inside and around the harbor. If I were to take a visitor whale watching, I would use another company.
