This place looks barren and bleak. No thought to landscaping. Why anyone would live here is beyond me. Maybe being close to three amazing state parks is the draw. We went for the boat launch though and it was a good one. Dock workers were friendly and helpful. Since the span of the river between locks isn't all that long, our boat ride was fairly short. We were trying it for something different. After getting off the water, we ate at a dockside restaurant called, Red Dog Grill. The service was excellent and food superb. We plan to return when we're next in the area.

Great place to stay for a day, weekend, week, month, or year! I’ve enjoyed my stay for the last 6 months! It’s a great place to relax and enjoy a small part of nature, wish it would of been in Summer but the Fall and Spring are fun as well.
Heron's Landing is one of the most iconic views in Illinois- located at Heritage Harbor Marina Resort in Ottawa, you cant beat a stay to take in the Natural beauty, to get out on the water with a kayak or boat rental and top it all off with a great meal and refreshments at the Red Dog Grill. Great value, and great find!
Seems like a nice getaway peaceful place on the waterfront. Nice place to relax and wash the stress of life down the river...
We go here every Thursday for ribs they are the best we have ever had! Super friendly staff.
