Best damn generating station on the coast! They keep the lights on in Ventura county.
Get to this power station by parking along the street by the mobile home park and walking down to the beach and taking a right (away from the homes). You can let your dogs run free (bring leashes and poop bags) unless you see another person with a dog on leash (good etiquette to always put your dog on leash if someone else has their dog on leash and good practice as the other dog may be aggressive) or a ranger. At certain times, you can find EPIC sea glass here. Lots of folks go hunting around here (check the tides for a low tide) so go early! There is typically a river to the ocean from the power plant that is used to for cooling (so the water becomes warm). There are often MANY stingrays in the water so if you wade in practice the \sand shuffle\ making sure to shuffle your feet so you won't accidentally step on top of a ray and get stung. *tip: to get around the river walk towards the generating station and walk over (via hidden) bridge the river. You can walk another 3.5 miles on the beach until your reach the Ventura harbor but go at low tide or you will be stopped by another stream from McGrath Lake.
