I went on a paragliding tour in Mexico that Jeff at Airtime of San Francisco offered, February 2020. I definitely boosted my paragliding skills during the tour. Jeff is passionate about paragliding and was enthusiastic to teach. His colleague Miguel in Guadalajara was also an excellent coach. Some other paragliding instructors I have encountered have been more passive or less responsive to questions, but Jeff was someone who wanted to get my questions answered and help build my skills.

Jeff is very hard on his students and I do admit his teaching style is not for everyone. There will be a lot of frustration and Jeff will always see the things you are doing incorrectly and point it out to you. But the reason behind it is that paragliding, while an incredibly rewarding sport, is inherently dangerous and Jeff wants to graduate safe and competent pilots. For someone like me who can be quite a perfectionist it was helpful to know when I was doing things incorrectly and really set me up for my future as a pilot. Jeff was great in this regard as I don't want any sugar coating on my technique. It can be difficult to compare different instructors as not many people go through their P2 training twice with different instructors. Despite how difficult Jeff can be there is no doubt, even among students from other schools, that Jeff's students come out with extremely solid skills. Definitely recommend Jeff as he will start you off well in a sport that involves a lifetime of learning.

I am an avid adventurist that maybe participates in too many sports. I have taken all sorts of training for outdoor adventure sports from good and bad instructors. While we are facing some challenges with the rules and restriction of Covid-19, this is a limit to how much you can do and still be involved. I started with Jeff, thinking that this would be a long time sport, signed up for the long haul, bought the equipment, and did my best to get out regularly. I found it difficult to communicate with Jeff, he does not like text or email, just phone calls, that he is unable to talk most of the time. His teaching style is rough and is not good about providing explanation of how to do it right. When he is not yelling about what you did wrong, he is telling you how great he is. Never really seen him fly. Not very helpful in my learning style. He does have a website that he wants you to read, it has good information but is sometimes difficult to pull out the information. Paragliding is an amazing sport, just not for me through Jeff, at this time.

Jeff was a great teacher and taught excellent launch techniques which is very important. Definitely safety conscious and won’t let you push any weather limits. Be patient, paragliding for beginners is highly weather dependent. He has great info on the website that you get access to when training with him. Cheers!

Great instruction as well as tandem flights.
