Zack has been my coach for over a month now and it has been an awesome experience. Zack knows how to determine your level of surfing from beginner to expert, and put you on the waves and board(s) that will help your surfing improve the most. He has had great flexibility and communication throughout my time with him as well. On top of all that Zack is an awesome person to hang out with on the water. If your looking for somebody to teach you to surf or help take your surfing to the next level, Zack is the guy!

Great day surfing with Zack. Up on the board surfing waves as a beginner in my 40s. Lots of waves! He’s a knowledgeable instructor with a respect for the ocean and the island. My 16 year old has been working with him all summer, the confidence and skill he has acquired is amazing. Thanks Zack!
SO SO SO GREAT! With less than 24 hours notice, Zack kindly opened up a spot for my friend and I to do a semi-private lesson with him. It was both of our first time surfing and the experience couldn't be more fun, chill yet exhilarating, and awesome. Zack quickly taught us how to hold the board and what to do in the water. I loved his philosophy that there's nothing like being out in the water to get the feel for how to surf - it can't be done on the sand. Zack was patient, funny, sweet as can be, and a fantastic instructor. He's legitimately a surfing pro and my friend and I felt like we were getting the attention and support we needed to learn how to surf. With just a try or two, we were both standing on surf boards and killing it. Zack was so much fun and we couldn't think of a better way to learn how to surf than having Zack by our side. If you're lucky enough to get a spot, TAKE IT! This isn't touristy or fake - this is a genuine man sharing his love and skills of surfing to others. THANK YOU ZACK FOR THE BEST SURFING EXPERIENCE!!! Stoked to try it again soon.
I did two sessions with Maika'i during my stay in Maui. I had been taking many surf lessons in different places, but the sessions with him were the best! He gave me a few tips to progress to gain more controls and make turns. We switched the board during the 1st session so that I could have more fun with the speed. The spot was not crowded at all, calm and quiet which made the lesson very relaxing. I wish I could have done more sessions this time, but I hope that I will be back for more! Highly recommended.
Loved surfing with Maika'i. His abilities in the water, local knowledge and personality will make it a super memorable experience.If you really want to learn to surf or take your skills to the next level this is your spot. Can't wait to come back and surf with these guys again!
Maika'i is amazing! I had a blast today learning to surf with him for my first time ever. He's great at teaching and doesn't make it complicated. Just listen to what he has to say and you will find success. I couldn't imagine a better first experience. Catching waves was easily the most amazing experience of my whole trip!! Zack and Sarah were amazingly knowledgeable and so sweet! We instantly felt like friends. They equipped us with what we needed to know and made sure we felt comfortable and safe the whole time. We also met their son Jack - He was super skilled out on the water and chimed in with helpful tips! My husband and I were first-timers and we both got up on the board! This was our favorite adventure of our entire trip. This is a must-do if you’re visiting Maui!! We’ll definitely be booking more lessons next time we come back! Thank you Zack & Sarah!!
My wife and I are vacationing in Maui from California. We have very little surfing experience and thought we would try out Zack Howard to help us develop our abilities. We took a semi private class with Zack and his associate, Miles. These guys were awesome! Very patient and kind and very helpful! We loved it so much we booked a second day and enjoyed it even more! If you are learning, it can be exhausting since you may not be conditioned for paddling so much. But other than that...I can’t recommend Zach Howard enough!
