Great place to relax and chill. Paved trails all around the beautiful lake, trails are long take one hour to walk. It has a small beautiful garden with varied flowers and picturesque sites. A dock for fishing and chill. A boat ramp. Many shelters for picnic. It has many access points and restrooms. Waterfowls are worth to watch, watch them flying on the lake and paddling in a row. They have small lakes, campgrounds, a dog place where you can let them play.

Such a beautiful spot, even on a cold snowy day. I’d love to return one day in the spring. My sister lives in the area and loves the running loop here.

I. Love. Walnut Creek lake. It’s about 3.2 miles around so it’s great for training for 5ks or just walking with a friend or dog. There is a trail for horses, another few for bikes. It’s my happy place.

Pros: Well maintained. Some fishing permitted, and boat ramp. Has horse, bike, and jogging paths. Big enough to give people space. Cons: Busy highway nearby, lots of noise. Find the tunnel around 96th st to pass under 370, instead of crossing dangerous highway on foot. Very popular in warm weather and sometimes too many cyclists on trails.

This is an awesome place to hike or go for a picnic. I have heard it is fun to fish and kayak as well but I personally have yet to do those things here. I hike here multiple times a week. So far I have only been hiking here since early Spring 2019. I am hoping the paved trail is open during the winter for my husky. The bathrooms on the east side are much less aromatic than the ones on the west side of the lake but both always have hand sanitizer and toilet paper. It is a great place for seasonal photos and beginning birders. The unpaved trails range from beginner to advanced, but all require decent shoes. There are several parking lots (two with boat ramps) as well as foot access from the local neighborhoods. Overall this is just a lovely place to go to get outdoors for a day. I just wanted to make a shout out to the rangers/land stewards that are maintaining Walnut Creek. You are doing an awesome job.
