Visited the museum in the Fall of 2020 and it was an absolute delight. I recommend it to everyone, especially if you have an interest in the Great Lakes and the shipping freighters. The staff was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. The grounds, right on Lake Superior, and museums were excellent and informative. And it's a very nice ride to get there through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

We loved the museum and the hiking of the area. There is a lot of history about shipwrecks in the area. The Edmund Fitzgerald wreck is just about 15 miles out on Lake Superior . There is a beautiful observation deck that overlooks Lake Superior. You can walk along the shore out to the point. It is beautiful and amazing.

The Tour through the Museum, Light House Quarters, and USCG Surf Board House was really cool, and again the staff was very informative. The boys recieved another great history lesson on how things functioned in the Keepers house, and how the equipment worked over @ the Surf Board House. One of the neat stories told today was that the daughter of the longest running Caretaker of the House, actually called them up during the restoration, and asked them if they would like some history about the house and property. They said yes, and asked her how she came about knowing about the History of the Lighthouse and property, and she responded with, because I spent around 18 years growing up there, I'm the Caretakers daughter from 1903 to 1931. So each room has been laid out similar to the way she remembered it growing up. Once again, if you get a chance to check it out, it is a great way to spend a couple of hours to take a trip back in time, and learn some great Lake Superior history.

Humbled by being at this location. Knowing that the Fitz is just off shore gave me chills. The items on display are world class. A must stop destination

Although closed for the winter, you can still go out and visit the beach area. The ice formations pushed up along the shore are impressive

This is a great historical site and museum. Hopefully when I go back everything will be open and unrestricted. The woman speaking with guests in the lighthouse and the man speaking in the boathouse were both great additions to the location.

Most people don’t realize how massive the Great Lakes are and how incredibly dangerous they are for sailors. Wonderful museum which truly pays tribute to those lives lost at sea. Fantastic exhibit on the famous Edmunds Fitzgerald. Museum is only open May-Oct so call before you go. Although the area is gorgeous so worth a stop no matter what.

Another scenic area with Lighthouse, museum, and lots of history. Especially shipwrecks. Also, a great place to collect rocks.
