Perfect independent bookstore. A great place to browse and shop. Its a small space with a wide selection of books for adults, fiction, poetry, travel, biography, history and more. They have a knowledgeable staff who really love books. Also they really impressive writers come for readings.

Hands down the BEST travel bookstore! Incredible variety of books and MAPS. Also there are other travel products such as luggage, travel clothing and other travel gear not found in other places.
This place is lovely. The staff is excellent, always cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable. If they don't have the particular book you're looking for they'll have it shipped to the store and give you a call when it arrives. And if they've traveled to where you're interested in they have great stories! So sad to be leaving LA for Hawaii because I'll miss little gems like this store.
Love this store! The travel agent got me a good rate for nonstop to Paris and lots of advice about the trip--how to get Euros, the train from the airport, other details, plus 2 good Paris travel books and a map! I am all set. just have to pack. oh, there are also informative youtube videos from the store on other useful topics.
There are very few places anymore that offers a travel store filled with maps and all things you might need for your travel. They are knowledgeable and friendly. Don't expect to buy luggage here but they have everything else. Felt good to pull out a map and unfold it and behold the beauty and art of these graphic wonders.
Distant Lands is one of those rare gems focusing their business on one thing and doing that thing superbly. Their on hand collection of book, travel accessories, travel oriented clothing, and maps makes this store a one stop shop for travelers. They have an excellent speaker series on week nights that is well attended by regular customers. The staff are always helpful and attentive, and are all seasoned travelers.
