Less crowded than the previous stops for sure! The smoke from the fires had not effected this area but you cannot see Mammoth mountain from here with the smoke. You don't need high clearance at all. There are not pot holes and it's a well maintained dirt road. My grandmother's car can drive this.

Real chill, quiet place. Last mile rough on my little car, no problem. Pit toilet, picnic tables, really cool trees.
A great view and amazing trees, but a heck of a drive. The first 12 miles narrow, twisty, paved. The next 12 dusty, rocky almost 4 wheel. Definitely need high clearance
This place is really powerful. It’s not easy to get here, but that’s probably why these Bristlecone Pines still exist. For thousands of years these trees have endured the harsh elements at 11,000-12,000 feet elevation. It’s a trip to look at one of these trees and think this tree will probably still be here in 1000 years, once I’m long gone. If you visit, please stay on the trail. Leave no trace! // Pack it in, Pack it out!
I love old trees. The elevation is over 10,000 feet. The road to get there is rough! My Toyota Corolla made it fine. The road is very narrow in places. There are rocks. It is a slow 12 mile drive but worth it if you like 4000 year old trees.
