Moore State Park is a jewel of central Mass. The old mill building, waterfalls and rhododendrons are favorites of photographers and philosophers alike. Wide open fields and meandering forest paths are perfect for peaceful walks in all seasons. Snowshoeing and Nordic skiing are also popular here. Dog friendly too!

Some of the trails were closed for construction but there was still a lot open to walk and enjoy in the snow

Today we took a chance and headed up to Moore State Park on what was an absolutely gorgeous day. This park never disappoints but commonly it is very crowded. Even though there were lots of people there most people went down to the main area so our family hiked up through the field and did our hike out that way. The boys enjoyed popping open milkweed pods, running through the field, finding good hiking sticks, checking out birdhouses, giving the dog a good long hike, and even finding some perfectly moss covered rocks to take a break. By choosing to go the route we did meant we only ran into a handful of families and could enjoy most of our walk mask free while having a chance to take in some of the fall beauty all around us.

There’s a good amount of trails to keep some distance from other visitors. There’s lovely views of the lake and dam, and the old mill is fun to walk around. Outside of that there are plenty of wooded trails and a large field to leave you immersed in nature. The only downside is that parking is limited for such a popular park.

Such a beautiful, peaceful place to take a walk and get lost in your own thoughts!! The main walkway is perfect for those who have difficulty walking on uneven surfaces. Those who prefer to get a little further away from the public are welcome to follow the trails that take you further into the woods. The only problem with going this fall is there is some improvement work going on during the week. Even though they're not starting the excavators and machinery on the weekends, you still have to walk past the backhoes and such and chain link fencing separating the public from work areas.
