Customer service at this store is nonexistent. I called ahead to let them know my husband would be picking up for me and when he arrived the employee said that I didn’t call and spent 10 minutes admonishing him for not following procedures. They said he needed to schedule an appointment and just dropped the spices on the ground outside. I had just spent 100 on spices but somehow they don’t have time to be decent to customers. It was already not ideal to order on line wait 24 hours for it to be filled and schedule pick up but with rude staff it’s just not worth it. We won’t be back!

I LOVE Penzey's! Have been shopping with them for almost 20 years. I've always received respectful, helpful service, regardless of which store I visit. The herbs and spices are the freshest (outside of my own garden) and are definitely affordable. They happily serve all folks, regardless of gender, race, religion, or politics. They understand that we are all Americans in this melting-pot country of ours.

We love Penzeys spices; however, we are disappointed in the Happy Valley store. We placed an order to be picked up at this store, was never provided instruction about specific pick up times. We live about 45 minutes away& this store is out of our way. Unbeknownst to us , after your order is ready, you need to schedule an appointment to pick up. Previously we had picked up from the downtown Portland store without making an appointment. None of this is explained on their web.My daughter went out of her way to pick the order up, and even though the order was ready, they would not let her pick it up. Very disappointed in the customer service. We wanted to support the local store & not have the order shipped as we could of. The least they could of done was instructed my daughter of are mistake & give her the order. Instead, she had to schedule an appointment for the next day. She was traveling to our house tonight not tomorrow. Now we need to make arrangements to get the order. Truly disappointed in this type of customer service. Basically. We are punished for trying to be supportive of a local business. And completely inconvenienced. Very disappointed!!!

I have been shopping with Penzeys for spices for almost 30 years, back when it was only a little pamphlet kind of catalog. I have turned many people on to Penzeys. I give bags of spices to friends for Christmas presents, for birthday presents for Yom Kippur presents and anniversaries. Everyone loves them. After all, what's not to love?! Your customer service is the best, bar none. Only one time did I ever have a running with a clerk in your store. and only one time in all the years I've done business with you, well, that just says a lot! And I've never seen that girl there ever again. Your clerks in the store know the products so well and are always so accommodating. But the people on the phone are the most amazing, I think. I have a friend who has lost her eyesight and I have turned her on to Penzeys. When she calls, she always gets the most pleasant, helpful, informative person anyone could possibly imagine. They help her through the ordering process so she can get all the bargains and know all the prices and not have a big surprise at the end. She absolutely loves your product as much as I do. I just wish it was easier to order on my phone over the Internet period but for some reason I have to sign in as a guest and it's just not easy. Also, I wish you guys would publish your 800 number again because I can't seem to find it. Other than that I have nothing bad to say about your organization and the people who work for it. Thank you for still remaining in business during these horrible times!

I very much like their spices they have a lot of ones you cannot find in a regular store. But on January 26th 2020 my husband and I were there we got everything we needed but when we went to check out the lady ask us if we would like to try a no salt seasoning in this little box for 1 it was a 4-ounce jar we said sure for a dollar not thinking of what the box said on it we get home I read the label on the spice jar everything that's in the box was about the liberal party which I am not a part of the lady miss lead us never told us this was a political thing my fault. Thinking about the Justice I should have known the only thing I think is this was deceiving on her part I will go there again just because of the spices but my husband said he could not enter that store after that the spice will not go 2 waste I will give it to my liberal sister. Update won't be back. Found another spice place with no political views to the public. There are still good AMERICANS around

The cashier could have been nicer. I asked if they gave any samples and she said, "Yes, when you buy it". Her comment was muttered slightly under her breath. The experience was hurtful. And if I had not driven from WA to OR to get there with my friend, I would have left. Luckily for the cashier my friend did not hear her statement!!!! The male (I think his name was Mark or Mike) made up for her rudeness. He was professional, kind, and hurtful. He had good customer skills.
