We absolutely love Rutabaga. It is an incredible community and play space. Even though they aren't able to have people in-person due to COVID safety precautions, Krystal has creatively provided solutions to borrow toys. It is a fantastic resource and a parent's dream because you don't have to worry about buying new toys. Instead, you can borrow well cared for toys that kids will absolutely love. The idea of a toy library is so fantastic, I wish every community had one!

Rutabaga Toy Library is a work of love - for the community, the environment, and the ever changing interests of kids. Pre-Covid, visiting this East Falls gem was a perfect afternoon with my son, a place to play, meet other parents, and leave with a toy or two! Now, owner Krystal is adapting with grace and not letting her passion waiver. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this space. Surely, it's a business that will outsmart Covid, as it's become a necessity for conscious Philly parents.

Wondered by during the block party last year with my little one and we were greeted with a friendly hello and a warm welcome from the owner Krystal. I love the concept of always refreshing a toy collection without creating waste and spending tons of money. And the place is spit spot clean and organized (which is amazing seeing how it has unruly, sticky-hand customers!) What a great addition to the neighborhood!

Rutabaga is such a great addition to the parenting landscape of East Falls and Philly. They have been incredibly transparent in their covid19 precautions and are striving to keep families safe as well as continuing to provide enriching activities and toys for kids and families.

I recently had my son’s 3rd birthday at Rutabaga Toy Library and it was such a great experience! Krystal was extremely accommodating and helpful during the planning process. We communicated mostly via email and felt she provided all necessary information to book the party. The day of the party, Krystal was present as well as another staff member to ensure we had all the help we needed before, during and after the party. The space is so awesome and has a “home” feel to it. The space and toys are clean, age appropriate, and diverse to accommodate the range of 1 year old to 3 year olds. After the “playing” we ordered pizza from a local shop and the staff helped us rally and serve the kids/parents. I recommend this space not only for a party, but also for everyday use as a playroom or borrowing toys.
