There is a lot of work that needs to be done here and monumental changes that could be accomplished immediately. All though the center houses a variety of service catering to at need veterans they operate independently with very little to know over sight. The staff definitely needs to have an attitude adjustment to be aligned with who they work for and what President Lincoln’s mission for Veterans Affairs was and still is. I’ve done my research on all departments working out of this office to a very personal degree. The facility for example when it comes to cleanliness do not follow the signs as to what that means posted by the facility themselves. The attitudes towards the veterans that may have no place to go or who are seeking a place of refuge at most times is cold in nature with the attitude that if you don’t like it you can go somewhere else. This comes from all levels and all staff members but it’s a culture embedded in the system that needs to change at the base and work its way through all layers. I’ve offered my time energy and finances and because of my spirit and belief that it’s a gift to be charitable and the positive relationships that have and build while supporting my fellow veterans the VA as an organization has not been very receptive. This is something that I am determined to change. Please feel free to contact me directly in regards to this review. If things and when things change my review will be updated to reflect such changes. The right thing to do is the right thing to do, that’s why I do the things that I do. Not because I care.

I had an appointment to speak with a Veteran's benefits counselor. Unbeknownst to me there was a protest occuring in the same area at my appointment time. I attempted to contact my counselor several times to inform him I was going to be a few minutes late due to large crowds and barriers closing roads. His phone was already forwarded to voicemail for the day. I had spoken to him that morning, that would have been the ideal time for him to inform me of the events occurring on the same block as his office that day. I will not be returning to this organization. I would much rather work with an organization that can manage to maintain something a simple as communication with the Veterans they claim to represent.
I'm a veteran from NC who was introduced to the multi purpose center in 2007 and in those 13 years this place has done more for me and other veterans than any VA facility I have ever had contact with to make a long story short The Multi Purpose Center is a God sent for Veterans.
Great service but you cant go inside. Sitting on the curb sucks lol
After reading so many negative reviews I was kind of hesitant about going in for housing assistance but I’m glad I went. The staff were fantastic and very helpful with the intake process. They were even accommodating to me having my one year old son with me. They provided him snacks and playing materials while I conducted business. I’ll definitely be going back if I’m in need of anything else!
