I saw this device a few years ago on Tech Crunch and was pretty interested! I've always found it a pain to check my own chemicals as a pool owner but there was no way I was going to pay someone to do it for me. I do admit I did have to wait a while to get the device but we have had it for over a month now and WOW! I never realized how many extra chemicals I was dumping into my pool that throwing it off. pHin has everything settled down now and since they ship me the chemicals as part of the subscription I don't have to worry about not having enough on hand. I have a lot of devices like this, Nest, Skydrop and other home tech toys and this is the most helpful by a long shot!

We are entering our 16th season with our pool. For many years we collected water samples and put drops in them, then did our best to determine which color on the scale was closest to our water sample. For the last several seasons, we have had the absolute luxury of having our pHin monitor let us know when we needed to make adjustments to our pool water. Becoming dependant on it didn't take any time at all. Recently, our monitor stopped communicating, and the awesome folks at pHin have been quick to respond, and I am confident that we will soon have our system back up and communicating again! I can't say enough positive things about the monitoring system, but now am happy to report that the customer service makes this system an essential for any pool or spa owner! This is a great product for maintaining the perfect balance of chemicals in a spa in order to keep the water clear and clean. I no longer have to guess how much chemicals I have to use or if I'm doing it correctly! This product takes all the guess work out of it. The pHin app lets me know what action is needed in order to perfectly balance the water. I highly recommend this product!
I have been using pHin now for over a year and have been so happy with the purchase and the results. I am a first time pool owner and pHin has made it so easy to keep my pool balanced. I am a tech guy, so having all the information on my pool in an app on my phone with notifications when something needs to be added is awesome. I recommend to to any friend that asks about a pool guy or pool care. With storms (a monsoon bashed it up pretty good against the side) and other issues I have had to have the unit replaced a couple of times, but the team is great. The two times I had to replace it, I had a new unit at the house in a matter of a few days and was back up and running with no questions and no charge. The only real issue I had was the the first unit they sent was not working properly and it had me overload the pool with PH Up which made the pool super cloudy. My recommendation to a new customer is to take a water sample to your local pool company to test it to make sure it is matching what pHin is telling you. Or if you know how to use the chemical tests, do that. If the number of pouches seem way too high, use the app to message the support team before you add anything. I was an early user, their response time has been so much better over the last 9 months (wrote this on 12/4/18) than it was in the beginning.
Getting help has been next to impossible. Emails to support take days for a response. I scheduled a call and no one called me. When I got the device I was not able to scan a product on the list of supported chemicals. I figured that out myself. Now the device is not monitoring properly. It shows its connected but also shows chlorine in the red. Manual testing shows the chlorine is fine though
Very happy with the customer service! Very responsive and very helpful. Had an issue with the monitor and they replaced it without question several months ago. Had some connectivity issues recently that I traced to the bridge and they responded to my email in less than an hour and said a replacement is on the way. It works as advertised and can honestly say it has never been easier to maintain my Hot Tub!!
My advice is not to use this service or their products!!! Our experience has been very poor and their customer service is unacceptable. We have been using this program for almost two years and the PHin products has yet to get our pool chemicals balanced. They also did not supply us with the chemicals the monitor identified for weeks. This was a complete waste of money. When I contacted customer service via email of course, they were reluctant to respond or provide any directions to resolve our issues. I want a full refund but I’m sure I won’t receive it, so I am considering filing a complaint with various consumer protection agencies. Do not purchase or depend on this product!!!
Finally a smart product that is actually useful! I can't say enough great things about this product. I finally have a sparkling blue pool and I didn't spend the summer fighting back the algae. Super easy to use and insanely convenient. More importantly, the people working at this company are fantastic. I started using pHin when they were fairly new and any issues I had with the sensor or connectivity they were immediately on top of it and solved every issue. I never had any downtime and my pool stayed clean. I don’t think I have ever had such a good experience before and I constantly feel like I’m not only getting what I pay for but well beyond that. Keep up the good work. You guys are great!
