I came here for my Master's in Counseling. Every step of the way I have received support and encouragement. I am so glad I chose Ottawa. I live in Texas and utilize their online program. It does not matter if I'm online or when I am in person during my residency week, Ottawa is a phenomenal program!

This is a rather cool university. Ottawa University is one of your many options in the valley of Phoenix, Arizona to get an education. It is crazy how many schools are located in the area when you really sit down and count them all.

having issues with registration second semester into the school. Would have been better to just stay at Walden. stay away from Ottawa University at all costs. they are just another scam preaching Christianity for clout. typical Figured I'd update this as the issue continues. today I get a message from a person at the school telling me their social media is not the place to bring my complaint. after being hung up on by the registration staff this is the place to bring my complaint as the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Got a call yesterday from someone at the school to speak to me about what has been going on. they left a message to a number I call back and it says \the number you are calling is not a correct number please check the number and dial again.\ This was Friday July 19, 2019. After being told the day before to not post anything on the schools social media. So if I am correct here, a school that takes federal funds, preaches Christian values, then tries to step on the civil Rights of it's students to talk about an issue I am sure more people are going through? Hmmm something seems a bit fishy to me here. I guess the term liberal arts no longer means an education in multi facited discipline of study , and now means \you hurt my feelings by speaking the truth and I want you to stop despite your own rights to express yourself.\ This is a political liberal mentality and has no place in education. If you'd like to be quiet then address the issue, it really is that simple. Monday July 22, 2019 called this morning to find out why the electronic transcripts for my previous education was not entered. Of course they are saying I cannot register for classes until they have transcripts from Everest College which has been closed now for a few years. Still no call from the registration department, I have had to chase them down. Still no new adviser, still waiting to talk with the campus manager and no communication from this campus.

I did my M.A in Professional Counseling at Ottawa University. I like their schedule/ hours and not feeling like just a number. I also like that they prepare students for the National Counselors Exam by providing study sessions and role playing classes. But for the most part I have bad memories of this place. They were not helpful when it comes to helping students find an internship. Unfortunately, not many professors are willing to sign the required papers to start the internship approval process. I needed to collect 3 signatures at that time. There were professors who flat out announced to the entire class that they will not sign papers for anybody because it was a waste of their time. To top things off, only unpaid internship sites are approved/ acceptable. Seriously, thanks for nothing! Also, the blackboard list is outdated. It took me over 1 year to find a place to do my internship. When I contacted people/ places on the list, I was told they were only accepting Ph.D students or that the supervisor no longer works there. What’s worse is I was told I didn’t have enough work experience (2 years wasn’t enough to qualify). The point of doing an internship is to gain experience!

I love attending here, and they welcome students from all diversities. This is a not-for-profit Regionally Accredited University that has Liberal Arts studies with concentrations that are useful in everyday careers. And they are building a campus in Suprise AZ that will have dorms and a football field, and it is a real University. I have earned my BA in business through here, and I will earn my MBA through this campus as well. :)
