I used to work in Kirkland and stopped by this little store on my lunch break, as I needed a card for an expecting coworker. For such a tiny storefront, the selection is wide and varied. The craftsmanship is unbeatable and the prices, fair. The staff is authentically friendly, not overbearing. They were able to discuss the heart behind the business and sold me on the community-minded, artistically inspired practices.

My husband and I are from out of town and walked into this store yesterday while we were strolling around Kirkland. I love stationery, pens, pencils, print, postcards, etc. so I was thrilled when we saw this little store. Everything in the store was well-made and so cute. I saw samples of business cards and wedding invitations that were impressive and unique. However, when we walked in, we were not immediately greeted with a friendly, “Hello! Let me know if you need anything!” or something similar but rather a delayed, “Hi, guys” as she never looked up from her computer and then nothing else the entire time. I was so put off by the lack of friendliness that even though there were so many things in there I would have loved to purchase, I did not. Again, quality work and impressive work, but sometimes that only goes so far. Human interaction is key.

We wanted letter press for invitations that we designed ourselves for our wedding. Pike Street Press was more reasonably priced than several places we looked. We had several cards to print--invitation, reception, and RSVP--all designed on a large sheet that I thought they could easily crop and cut. There was a more expensive option to print the cards on separate sheets before cutting so that the impressions would be deeper, not sure why that would matter to make it deeper (just press harder, right?). We figured it'd look deep like the samples they gave us, which were very nice and deep. There were a couple things they needed to change, but sent us proofs that we agreed to. After picking up, I did a quick check and saw the cards were okay. The impressions were not deep at all, we wasted money for separate card printing. We were in a rush anyway, so no time to get things re-done. I didn't take a close look at the cards until after I sent out the invitations that background images in the cards were stretched and enlarged differently than what was provided in the proofs, really messed up the intent our design.
