10 admission. Plan on 1 hour minimum, 3 if you watch the 20 minute video and read every word on every display. Documents the rise (1817), peak (1824-1836), and fall (1940) of the fur trade / trappers/ Mountain Men. There are 10 large top notch display cases with original artifacts in context and with descriptions. Downstairs is about half the size and focused on the town and region; not trappers. Plan on 10-30 minutes. Outside there are a couple cabins and a sheep herder's wagon.

Had a great time here. June 2020. I have been doing native American powwows and regalia making for much of my life but I built my first flintlock rifle this year and am in the process of creating a mountain man persona. I got a LOT of pictures and ideas from here. The exhibits were good quality and interesting. There is plenty to look at especially if you enjoy the fur trade time period. I have a ton more pictures of detailed pieces but I don’t want to post too much and ruin it for ya!
This museum is on the smaller side but packed with plenty of content! The video gives a nice history of how mountain men got their beginning, and the artifacts and taxidermy provided great supplements to feeling how it was to live during the fur trapping era.
A great historical private museum for those of us who enjoy history museums. Beautiful collections and friend staff.
We enjoyed the exhibits. There are two floors of displays, the bottom one is much smaller. Several life size dioramas. Interesting displays. It would have been better if covid-19 wasn't going on. The lobby area and bottom floor were tight spaces with several people not wearing masks and getting close together, so that made it more difficult.
We really enjoyed the exhibits and artifacts displayed . Educational and entertaining. Update 7/31/2018 We were traveling through this area again and decided to stop in for another visit. We were rewarded again as displays had been added to and rearranged. Two of our grandchildren (ages 2 and 5) were with us and were entertained as well. There was even an area for them to dress up, sit on saddles and have their picture taken.
Wow. Amazing artifacts. FIRST RATE. Guns from the 1800s as well as letters and other great artifacts gave one the legitimate history of the people, the challenges and great stories of the lifestyle. If you arenin Wyoming, visit this museum and enjoy the Historically relevant town of Pinedale
Awesome place, lots of stuff to see and learn about. The Ladies in the front are really kind and welcoming. A really fun place to walk around and soak up some historical information!
