I'm a novice wood carver and went to Carolina Urban Lumber a week ago to find a small 10\ x 12\ hardwood scrap or cut-off to make a plaque. Even though I told Damon my intent upfront, he still gave me a tour of the entire facility and spent over a half hour just talking with me about the various woods, because I know virtually nothing about them. I found a couple pieces of nice ambrosia maple and was floored by how inexpensive they were. I told him I'd be back again! And, sure enough, today was that day. Went back and Kristen helped me to find a couple small pieces of walnut. And, again, knowing that I was only planning to spend a couple bucks, Kristen still took time and treated me like I mattered. Many other businesses would do well to take a page from their book of how to properly treat customers. Love these people and this place. Bill Nelson

Great lumber yard in south Charlotte, helpful and passionate about wood. Loved it, plan on buying the walnut for the table I am working on from them
I’ve been here several times. Kristen at the front is very friendly and helpful. What I like about this place compared to other dealers in Charlotte is that you can sort through the lumber and find what you like. Since it’s not graded it lets you find what you like. Also like the scrap pile outside which I usually take from and can have a fire with it. Thanks again. Myles
I had bad experiences buying slabs from this business in the past and stopped using them. Gave them another chance since the owner contacted me stating the operation had improved since then. I took slabs for them to dry and they are now warped beyond use. If I posted pictures, you'd see they look like potato chips. The owner said he'd refund my money and 10 days later, he said he didn't think he owed me anything. He had me pay for them before I saw them. I paid for them at the storefront location and was told to drive to the mill to get the slabs. What I paid for drying slabs that cannot be joined was almost the same price as buying Blonde Mahogany slabs from West Penn, perfect & ready to use. If I was told up front it's a \dry at your own risk\, I would never have wasted the time and money. Jessica Palmer
Needed a truly special piece of lumber to build an urn for my wife's and my ashes and found Carolina Urban Lumber. A wonderfully special place with great wood AND service to match. Kristen and Josh gave me a tour and then assisted me with finally picking out the perfect piece. Highly recommend CUL and Kristen and Josh! Jim P.
