This was the first doctor out of, I don't know how many, to actually assess me, give a diagnosis and treatment plan, and support my desire to get off all medication. He has great bed-side manners and is willing to sit and brainstorm the best treatment for you. His nurse practitioner is also really great as are his whole office staff. I really feel cared about as a person, not just a patient. So many pain management offices treat their patients as less than human. I've met with other doctors in the area who fixate on my young age and dismiss me, but he didn't. He acknowledged the realness of my pain. This is the first time I have actually had hope for a pain-free life and can see the light at the end of this 8 year, dark tunnel. I left his office feeling validated, hopeful, and excited to get back in my kayak and pull out my camping gear. My only problem is, I flat out can't afford the procedures that would result in a pain-free life and it will be months before I can even afford the first procedure. Mind you, I have good insurance. I will say this, while Dr. Koning and I thought I'd be pain and medication free within a month or so following my first appointment. Now knowing my financial situation, he was more than willing to continue managing my pain until I can afford the procedures. Most doctors would have cut a patient off or been unwilling to do this. I can't thank him enough for this level of empathy and understanding.

The team is experienced in dealing with pain and are very efficient in their scheduling . Dr. Koning will spend whatever time is needed to make sure you under stand your options and his team can answer any question about your treatment plan. Their goal - make the pain go away or control it with the least amount of pain meds needed - a good thing in this opioid crazy world.

I found Dr. Koning several years ago when I was in a world of lower back pain. You know what I mean if you have been there and desperation to get some, any kind relief is an understatement. This kind of pain is the worst most people ever experience. It is terrible and unrelenting. Dr. Koning's personality can light up a room and his experience will save you from needless misery. He performed a fluoroscopy guided facet joint injection precisely where it needed to go and I went from rolling in the floor and howling at the moon in terrible pain to BACK TO NORMAL within a few days after the cortisone had a chance to do its magic. Rarely have I had such rapid and thorough relief delivered with such flair, consideration and confidence. Dr. Koning is a very rare man with his wonderful personality, obviously high degree of knowledge and experience, all with a fabulous smile that extends all the way to his heart. His procedure has lasted me five years. I am again rolling in the floor and speaking in tongues in agony from my lower back so I sought Dr. Koning. I would not go anywhere else, nor should you.
