I've been giving blood for 17 years, & we never had a problem in Saginaw. This is the second time I tried to give blood here in Portage. This is the second time they've changed their hours recently changed (see attached picture). We didn't have an appointment, but we couldn't even make one. The receptionist was discouteous: she was on her mobile phone when we arrived, gave us very little information, & then disappeared; we left after 15 minutes. We heard one say to the other \there's not even anyone\ waiting, when we clearly were. Guess it's back to the American Red Cross for me...
Sometimes it takes ten minutes to just get checked in. But the staff is super friendly.
I have donated whole blood through Michigan Blood several times. I had my blood tested before donating, and I found out that my red blood cell count was on the low side as of recently. They’re very helpful in finding out what particular cell needs higher count, and what kind of foods people ought to eat in order to have more normal blood counts.
I am a weekend visitor at Michigan Blood. Carrie and Shonda are the best!! They are professional, funny, caring and sweet! I have never had anything but a wonderful experience!!!!
Donation hours are noon to seven on tuesday, according to their website! It's always a good idea to donate blood, help save a life today!
