I absolutely love the store. Excellent staff who are always informed and helpful, plus just fun to chat to. Great selection (if you haven't been in a few years, go in again -- there's been a shift in what they carry, particularly in high end casual, and it's all for the good) and always a great sale section -- I rarely leave empty handed and never regret my splurges there. Also, there's an great tailor on hand who does immaculate work, for garments purchased there or brought in. I had an issue with an overcoat that took a few tries at different alterations to solve, but we got it and it's perfect. Also also, the only place in town with good denim, and they have some of the best (Raleigh, Naked & Famous, etc).

Excellent service! I needed a suit last minute for a wedding. They took my measurements and had my pick of suits tailored and ready for pick up in under two weeks. I will definitely be returning for a made to order suit for this years wedding season
Excellent men's wear
Unbelievable selection of great clothing
Excellent service! Was in a spot where I needed an affordable jacket quickly; they found a nice fitting coat that matched the style I was looking for off their discount rack. They even had it altered by the time they opened the next morning so I could make it to my interview in Boston on time.
Good selection, great service. The employee helping me, Henry, was very knowledgable about the different brands of suits and shoes and was very enthusiastic. Would recommend.
I bought a sweater at Joseph's more than 20 years ago and I'm still wearing the sweater. It's the best sweater in my wardrobe. The style has lasted and the fabric has stayed in like new condition. They really know what they are doing, at this store.
I purchased a jacket from Joseph’s clothing about a year ago. The jackets that they carry run small and Joseph Redman told me that I should get a size larger and they would alter it to fit. I questioned this approach and asked about a custom made jacket. Mr. Redman discouraged me and said that that was a “process”. I took the fast and easy way out. The alterations of the larger jacket were a bigger job than either of us anticipated. The jacket arrived and was altered. When I tried it on, it still needed some work so I took it back for more alterations. I willingly brought the jacket back to Joseph’s 4 times when I was in Portland for other reasons, and worked with Jeff who recognized the problems and tried to help using photographs without having their tailor Paul fit the jacket personally. I finally realized that this approach was not working and I made a special trip to Portland (150 mile 4 hour trip) to actually meet with Paul. Paul, who is a really fine tailor made major revisions to the jacket. When I came back a week later to pick the jacket up, I noticed that while the alterations had corrected most of the problems, the back of the jacket did not fit properly. When I mentioned this, I was informed that I was “picky” and that they would not alter the jacket again. They agreed that it did not fit properly, but were not willing to fix the problem. Unfortunately, neither Jeff nor Paul was present. This was to be a fine jacket which would give me pleasure when I wore it. Unfortunately, it will now only remind me of the problems, poor fit, and disappointment with Joseph’s that I wound up with. On the plus side, they carry really nice clothing and if you can buy something off the rack or with minor adjustments, and are not “picky”, it is a good place to shop.
