Mariko is a talented acupuncturist with a wonderful sense of initiative. She listens! Mariko recently returned from an intensive course of study in China (in DEC 2015) and continuously strives to improve her knowledge and skills.

Mariko's acupuncture treatments are helping me manage my scoliosis, sciatica, and occipital neuralgia (chronic pain in my upper neck, shoulders and back of head). Her treatments are a necessary and major part of my wellness regime. As of yet, because of her treatments, I have had no need to take any pain medication whatsoever, which is one of my main goals. Mariko is professional, attentive, calming and highly skilled. It is easy to see that she has a passion for acupuncture and for helping her patients. She always seems to be refining her skills and deepening her understanding. I see and experience her as a Doctor. I should be calling her Dr Horie but she let's me call her Mariko. She is very professional and very good at what she does.
Mariko asked me to write a review, and I'm happy to do so. I came to Mariko as a skeptical person at the suggestion of my doctor. I'm a head/neck cancer survivor with many aftereffects of my chemo and radiation treatments. I rely on powerful medications and the volume and length of time I was taking them has become a problem in and of itself. I chose Mariko because of her location, but just as important her recommendations by others. Over a period of many months I saw Mariko. Initially I didn't know what to expect. At first, I was amazed how much detail she wanted to know in a simple face to face discussion of my medical history. She is a compassionate, gentle and a fantastically thorough professional. We began with I now know was a light treatment, and progressed as I became more convinced of the value of the time I spent with her. I found that her treatments weren't a panacea, but it was clear there was a value in each and every treatment. She combined the information about my ills and modified each treatment to be targeted to my needs. Not just my neck pains were treated, often I would get adjusted treatments for secondary problems at the same time. The treatments I received had a positive effect. I found that pains I was having were easier to deal with and I made great strides in handling my day to day issues. Ultimately, I had surgical procedures and no longer needed Mariko's help. I had a tough decision to end my treatments but ultimately decided to hold off once my root causes were dealt with. I still use medications and massage, but I am grateful to Mariko for all she did for me and I strongly urge anyone, even those who don't believe it may help to give it a try. It is worth every moment you spend with her!
