Madstop Records is SUNY Potsdam's own, student run, independent record label. It's an excellent vehicle for students with an interest in recording and production to learn, develop, and hone their skills and expertise. The environment is welcoming and designed to accommodate beginners all the way to advanced students with opportunities for everyone to learn and grow in a safe space. Madstop Records also allows for student and local bands to have access to a high level of recording equipment and those able to work that equipment to produce studio quality recordings and even full-length albums. Often, the projects are only limited by the imagination of those involved. Madstop Records is also setup in a way that people looking to work in and around the music and recording industry, such as in the marketing and promotional side of things, can also get that much valued experience. Madstop Records does quite a bit out of the studio work as well. They have handled a great deal of sound reinforcement gigs in and around the campus working with various a Capella groups, music ensembles, and other miscellaneous performances. The incredible opportunity offered through this group cannot be understated for students and it is something anyone with an interest should absolutely check out.
