Although I appreciate most lost and founds, BYU's lost and found has at least one bad policy. I left my water bottle in a class and it was not there when I went back later. I called the lost and found and they said they throw water bottles away when they get them. This water bottle was a vacuum sealed water bottle and was not cheap. I would dare to say that most students with water bottles have this type. That amounts to hundreds of dollars a month they are throwing away and that is student's money! If they would keep the water bottles at least for a week, I think most people would get their water bottles by that time. I have heard that they have this policy for health reasons. What those health reasons are are beyond me. This policy needs to change!

This place and its campus wide system are garbage. I've had to wait for days until a lost item ended up here. Lose something on Friday night or over the weekend that you desperately need like a wallet or keychain? Sucks for you--no one is at the office, so you'll have to take the loss. Seriously people, if there's a lost item lying around that isn't a danger to anyone or at risk of getting damaged, LEAVE IT THERE! If you must, pass it on to custodial or lost and found, but at least make an effort to contact the owner first. BYU Lost and Found is an abomination and no one should have to wait on them like this.
