Tried going to eat outdoors but unfortunately the outdoor option was mostly enclosed, which I didn’t feel comfortable with. Ended up ordering takeout and the food was great! Looking forward to going when things open up again.

Hupo is, in my opinion, the best Szechuan restaurant in NYC, and it’s right here in my Long Island City neighborhood. With Hupo’s cooking, you never experience just the heat, as with lesser places. This restaurant makes the best mapo tofu I have ever had—fiery but with great depth of flavor. This is typical of everything I’ve ordered. Ma la, the characteristic Szechuan flavor combination of chilis and Szechuan pepper, sometimes is mis- or overused in Szechuan restaurants in New York. But here, you know immediately that it’s done right, with real Szechuan peppercorns.The dim sum and noodles all are excellent, too. Before Covid, we went there regularly and always enjoyed the friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. Now, we order delivery and, although we miss eating in the actual restaurant, we’re so glad we can still enjoy this restaurant’s cooking.
In this local area this is the best Szechuan restaurant. It's great. All the classics done really really well. I love this place.
Omg the food here is soooooo so sooooo so good! The flavors are so fragrant and aromatic. Fresh and absolutely delicious. I am thrilled to have discovered this restaurant in LIC. It will be my regular spot from now on. What a great addition to the neighborhood. Please support local businesses now more than ever!
I love this place. The Chungking chicken is phenomenal, just make sure to get it mild (otherwise it’s way too spicy, for me at least)
