Iron Mountain Trail

Great views, quiet and no crowds.

I did not think this is a worthy add on for the iron mountain trail. The views are nice but nothing superior to what you already get on the iron mountain hike. Additionally, the hills shield the trail from wind so it can get really hot on the half mile spur.
Beware; There is no sign marking the location. Personally I love this spot. It's typically quiet, and very few people are there at a time. I went on Easter Sunday and on one bothered me for over an hour. You can come in from the Poway Iron Mountain trail head and follow the sign eastwards. It's a pretty thin and fairly rocky trail (no scrambling necessary). You can also follow the sign to get to Iron Mountain Summit, which goes in the opposite direction. If you want an extra challenge, start in Romona and take the trail all the way to Iron Mountain (bouldering may be nessecary)
Magnificent views, route off Iron Mountain. No cover, hat and water. Snakes beware.
Very quiet place. Good incline for a workout.
