Beautiful trail. My first time hiking in the winter, absolutely gorgeous.

The 4.5 year old tripped a few times on the roots...but from the parking lot and around the lake we enjoyed our 2.33 mile walk :)

Though only my second visit, I have grown to love this little slice of paradise. The parking lots are well-maintained. The parking lot off of Lake Ann Road features a wheelchair accessible outhouse and handicap access to a viewing platform overlooking Ransom Lake. The trail is easy to follow around the lake and affords breathtaking views of the lake and its shoreline vegetation. The natural area is host to myriad deciduous and coniferous tree species, along with a variety of ferns and other forest floor dwelling vegetation. The trail is quite easy to walk, as it's mostly flat. Just watch underfoot for exposed doot systems! While not highlighted, Random Creek runs along the trail to the viewing platform. This creek is also worth the visit alone. In all, beauty abounds at this natura area. Plan at least 2 hours to fully explore the natural area. And, as always, bring a camera and water. :) Visit the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy's website for more information and directions.

Very nice trail around the lake. Quiet place with a beaver dam and lodge.

Beautiful little lake and trail that surrounds it. Approximately 2.5 miles around. Nice walk. Can get a little muddy in the Spring but other wise accessible all year round.
