I can't wait till the summer concert time
like
I don't prefer Ravinia for a concert venue. Honestly it's nice if you don't really care about the artist and don't care to see them up close. If you do want to see them, make sure you spend the extra money to get Pavilion tickets. Otherwise you're stuck in the lawn somewhere. We were right behind the Pavilion and still couldn't see the artist from our spot in the lawn, I had to walk up to the Pavilion to get any sort of view of the artist. Ravinia is basically an expensive/glorified picnic place in my opinion.
Ravinia is definitely one of my go to places every summer I have been enjoying their outdoor events since the 80s. There's nothing like the relaxed and very adult atmosphere I'm going to Ravinia concerts. Yes they do have classes for kids too which I think is very great and different activities. I called this the grown and sexy crowd because of the attitude and how people of love to come together and unwind ensure great food and Spirits and enjoyed the concerts. Actually I came out here Saturday for concert as well tonight was Maxwell and Saturday was Michael McDonald and Chaka Khan. I am about to get my tickets for Lenny Kravitz I've always wanted to see him and I love his music and yes he is coming to Ravinia.
This was my first time here and it will definitely be my last... the outdoor venue is not made for concerts. Unless you buy actual seats the lawn is not where you want to be. The lawn seats are not sloped so you can see the concert. Its actually just a parish area with food on the outskirts. If you want to actually view the concert you will have to pay 3 times as much for real seats. So the people in the photos are experienced for these concerts because not only did they bring tarps to stake thier claim but they also bring buffet and coffee tables. One person brought a candelabra... not joking... So its basically tailgating for uber rich, super privileged people. So in essence, this is a terrible place to WATCH a concert but if you want to spend 50 per ticket to hear music (or you can get an Amazon echo for 79 on sale at amazon.com and get the same sound) and watch people eat in thier outdoor living rooms then this is the place for you!
Great and historic music venue! I enjoy the picnic and live music concept. Having the capability of watching your favorite band (if you buy pavillion tickets) and then step out for libation breaks is great. Friendly staff and organized management. If you have never been at Ravinia, you should visit at least once.
Great Venue to go and listen to live music whether in the pavilion or the lawn you are going to have a great time. From Classical to every genre in between there is something for everyone. 80's flash back last night with Culture club, B-52's and Thompson twins.....Fantastic show!
I wish they would offer parking at the botanical gardens for every show. It makes it so much easier to get to and from the park. I think charging so much for parking is a crime. I wish they would post early in the day if they are going to use the botanical gardens instead of deciding at 7:00 PM that they’re going to need that parking lot. People could plan their day much better if they knew that was an option. I also think they need to figure out a way to get people out of the park faster on their buses. The line is usually two blocks long and 10 people wide. It takes forever to get to your car. When it’s hot outside and you need to wait in line and take forever to get your car it really ruins the great time you had at the concert and makes you question if it’s worth it.
I enjoyed the concert, the food, the atmosphere, it was all around great !
