This was our first time visiting and let me tell you, it was wonderful!!! The lake is very beautiful and the common areas where really clean including the bathrooms. While I was getting all my diving equipment I saw how they where sanitizing and cleaning other equipments. The rentals where all in pretty neat conditions. The staff was very helpful in explaining the areas and the rules. Overall Lake Phoenix is a wonderful place to have fun diving, camping and/or having a family day. I will definitely come back again!!! PS. Make sure you submit your waiver online prior to get to the lake. It will save you a ton of time.

I've been here 5 times over the last 10 years. It's a cool place to camp and dive. Clear shallow water. 2 species of fish. It's a bit expensive, but still cheaper than a day on a boat. It has a few cool things sunk to see. The staff could use some improvements. They were a bit short with customers and rude. They did not seem happy or welcoming. When I went, they only allow 5 people at a time in the store due to Covid, but only 1 of the 4 staff inside were wearing masks. Only the young girl working there seemed to have a sense of customer service. I saw the elderly lady yelling at swimmers for walking on the divers dock and having their stuff in the wrong area. I don't know what the story was, but it could have been handled better and the staff did not need to make a public scene.

Honestly I just drove past it going down an old railroad bed. But It looked nice ,besides all the razor wire in the ditch line..... lol

Not a bad drive from Hampton Roads. Rental gear and unlimited tanks were very reasonable. Equipment was very good and clean. Water was clear but visibility limited to about 10 ft the closer you get to the bottom. With a lot of divers, a lot of bottom sediment was stirred up. Great place to practice dive or get open water certification. Our trio was able to dive up to 65 feet as well as see a lot of sunken objects at 30 to 40 ft. There were two staff at dive shop and the male was very friendly and informative. The female with glasses was not as nice and did not seem to be enjoying her job giving friendly service. It is what it is so if you can get the male staff to help you you will be better off. Fun time and highly recommend if you want to dive and enjoy.

Really like the facility here. The water is crystal clear. I am a diver and belong to the Richmond Diving club, so from time to time come to the Lake and do a few dives. Not a huge fan of fresh water diving, but a good place to get a fix. Number of neat things to see underwater. There's a selfie station, sunken boat, helicopter, truck, grill set and even a basketball hoop with Bowling ball to dunk! When we come dive, out kids like to swim around the pier. Lots of Bluegill and Smallmouth bass to see. We have grilled out, but never have camped here, but looks like you can. Good little area to visit even if you are not diving!
