A Reno institution that has been around since the late sixties, Louie and his wife( who have recently passed away, the new owners have done a great job preserving their vision), created an atmosphere that expresses love through food and Basque tradition/culture. All entrees are served family-style. Although the menu is limited, each dish is genuine Basque cuisine. This restaurant is a refreshing change from the ordinary. The original owners devoted their lives to showcasing their culture, as well as that of the Reno/Tahoe/ Northern Nevada surroundings.

Best Basque food around. My aitona would have been impressed. Whenever I need to feel close to my Basque family, we go here. It brings all of us together. Amazing food, service and atmosphere!

Louis' was my first experience with Basque food, I was first taken there in 1974, by a Basque friend, from one of the Old Nevada Basque families. We worked nearby, ( At the old Albers Feed and Grain) and used to go for lunch several times a week. It was, and still is fantastic. If you like Basque food Go! and if you never had it, ( and you eat meat) Go! and try it, at Louis' you won't be disappointed.

So great!! Very busy atmosphere as we went on a busy night but the food was super and the service was spot-on!! I got the salmon and it was so flavorful!

My wife is a very picky eater. She loved it and even ate some of my pork chop which was amazing. The whole experience was epic. Chris our server was very attentive to all of our needs. If we ever move to Reno we will be regular's here.

I’m in the area on business, and came across Louis’ by happenstance. What a gem! Wonderful food, pricing, and service. Heads up, when you think that the meal is over, out comes even more.

I dont have much experience with Basque food... i was not a fan of the house wine or soup (split pea? Never had it before) i didn't like the salad dressing, the chicken was ok (but i only eat brests on poultry) the rice lacked flavor, but my 10 oz sirloin steak was very good! And so was the ice cream. Now that being said.... others in our party of 7 split between 2 tables really enjoyed their were no leftovers! Probably not a place i will go back to personally but id definitely recommend that everyone try it once and make your own opinions
