The teachers here care for the future of the kids. They embody what an educator is all about and help kids be their best selves. This school offers true individualized education.
We've been having a wonderful experience at this school. I feel it is a true whole-child education. Some words that come to mind when I think of our experience at BA are strong academics, a warm community feel, excellent teachers, mindfulness education, music, coding club, culinary education, many interesting and meaningful field trips (they don't just go for the sake of going - the trips are relevant to what they are learning, and they discuss the experience before and after the trip), yoga, camping trip, swimming, tae kwon do, science fair, positive town, tech discovery, Spanish, gardening, walking to the Metro to go on field trips, computer programming, weekly spelling tests, gift of words birthday celebrations where the classmates prepare a healthy snack to celebrate and they take turns telling the birthday girl/boy something nice about them, healthy foods culture and education (the students are discouraged from bringing junk food to school), talent show, rock band, descriptive report cards... I could go on. It's a great little school.
Warm and caring environment. The teachers teach kids how to learn in an interesting and engaging way. I only wish we joined sooner!
I have had a pleasure to work with the founder of the school - Rodney Berhold and I am so glad to see he is using his love for Montessori and the experience to create the very unique and innovative Montessori education for elementary and middle students. His recent presentation at our JollyPlace Montessori School has gathered many parents looking to know what are the best options for their children beyond primary and it was wonderful eye opener on the possibilities of what Montessori means in this age and time. I do hope JollyPlace Montessori School and Berthold Academy will collaborate and support the Montessori community in the area in years to come.
