This was a beautiful hike - went January 2021. I feel like a winter hike is underappreciated - but they’re awesome. I had the park almost entirely to myself. Trails are wide & well marked although some were a bit muddy the closer I got to Saylers Creek. Lots of informational posts throughout the park regarding the nature of the battle which according to park information is the last significant battle prior to the surrender at Appomattox Courthouse. Terrain is stark in the winter landscape, but still beautiful. Well worth the outing- visitor center is open & has a nice museum, representative was knowledgeable & helpful- he gave me an awesome trail map which was helpful in navigating the park so I got the most out of my hike. Loved that you could get perspective on the battle from both the union & confederate perspective

First visit to this historic battlefield. A little spread out, with some modern dwellings dispersed throughout, but a powerful and significant site in our nation's history. Well worth the trip.

Awesome battlefield park with good visitors center. I always loved these lesser known parks. Its spread out and you have to drive to see it all but beautifully somber fields that all American should see. PS be sure to stop by high bridge while you are there.

Very nice park. Beautiful scenery. Must do stop for a person interested in the Civil War. Park employees are friendly and informative. We learn quite a lot about the battle that happened there. Nice Civil War display at the visitors center.

A great little trip to the past. Placing you in the ranks of General Lee's army as it retreats from Richmond. Fighting one of their last battles in this area. Informative signs guide you through the area.
