This location was not open due to COVID. I would recommend going to some of the other visitor centers for the Richmond Batllefield until COVID

Well maintained visitor center and exhibits. Surrounding area is also great to take a stroll. Easy access to Belle Isle. Free parking for an hour in the parking lot if validated. Otherwise you can park in the Belle Isle lot which is usually filled up. I'll suggest about two hours to experience this place fully.

American History is usually my forte. Learning about it in history books and even in historical television reenactments / movies doesn't do too much to explain how it all went down. It was nice to find this museum on a road trip to Richmond, VA. After a search on Google Maps and TripAdvisor, I decided to spend the afternoon along the James River and visit the Richmond National Battlefield Park on a nice Tuesday afternoon.

This museum was very informative, quit interesting and sad. I definitely recommend it if you had problems understanding history in school or just didn't have a teacher that brought it to life for you. Lots of trinkets, letters and clothing samples. Go.
