I finally made it to Riel. It was everything I was hoping it would be. Creative and innovative dishes that teased the palette with seafood, meat or vegan options. The presentation was artful and modern. The flavors were genius, unexpected and delicious. I'm always a lover of tapas style eating and enjoyed being able to taste many of the dishes. The portions are a little on the small side for the price, though some of the dishes were so good we ordered them again. The restaurant had a good ambiance with a modern vibe. The wait staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. A great experience and definitely a place to try if you enjoy dining.

This is the kind of place that Houston needs more of: where the chef is daring enough to change the menu daily and not be beholden to anyone other than his clientele. A beautiful mixture of simple and complex dishes one after another and some cocktails with good twists you wouldn’t expect, The top 10 list I give to friends coming into town now includes this restaurant. I look forward to coming here much more often.
Riel is the real deal (also, I think that's a pun because I think it's pronounced eal\). The scallops are meaty and not at all briny because they are flown in directly from the ice cold waters of Atlantis. They are perfectly seasoned by the blood of the men who stood in Aquaman's way. Try the Bees Knees dessert, too, it is truly the Aggro Crag of the dessert world.
Great service! The food and drinks were delicious! I had the oysters, grilled eggplant, and the W a P drink. I especially loved the W a P drink. It was so smooth and easy to drink. If you like drinks with jalapeños and chili powder on the rim... this is the drink for you! One of my favorite restaurants I highly recommend this place! Just as a heads up there’s a huge 1927 sign on the restaurant and the RIEL sign is much smaller. I was confused when I arrived.
First time coming here and I'll be coming back! Ambiance was amazing, food looks amazing, and tastes good! My girlfriend and I came here for our anniversary and we were not let down! Steak tartare was super tender and full of flavor! The hangar steak had a nice punch from the horseradish sauce and the pork tonkatsu was better than your typical pork tonkatsu sandwich from these other Japanese resteraunt around town!
